Some people like to save the best things for last. Others ask… “For what??!”
Sometimes life is too short to keep the good stuff hidden for too long.
That’s why today’s post is a special one. “Pff but why though, Jah?”
Well reader, I’m glad you asked but all in due time. First I want to talk about my love for coffee. It runs deep. Very deep. (Warning: This post may or may not contain a mild amount of coffee jokes and puns. So what. Who cares? do you pay my bills??? )
You see, I love coffee. I mean I’m chewing on coffee beans right now. Sometimes I like to believe that coffee was created so I could fully benefit (and abuse and misuse) its magical effects and wonders for my “sometimes” somewhat rowdy lifestyle. People always ask me how I’m able to keep going day in and day out. Truth is I only sleep when my body is not on caffeine anymore.
I think that if I could choose a favourite soup, it would probably be coffee. (What? well yeah, I mean it comes from coffee beans and beans are a vegetable, I guess so then it counts as soup. Just leave me alone!) It’s actually proven that the only other thing that combines perfectly with a cup of coffee is ANOTHER cup of coffee. (Really, I heard it from someone!) I always say my life would be complete if I have a cup of coffee and 9 and a half million dollars. Since I already have the coffee, I know I’m halfway to a complete life and that motivates me everyday. Since I’m not quite the morning person, Coffee also tricks me every morning into thinking I am in a good mood. Now back to why today’s post is special…
You see one of the reasons we started this blog in the first place was to combine the awesomeness of the cities that we love worldwide, with our love for food. All the while revealing great hidden places and the best locations to chill, eat, do homework, escape and relax. There is almost no better embodiment of all this then of one my favourite chill spots in The Hague; “Lola Bikes and Coffee”. Normally I would keep a place like this to myself, but I’ve been keeping my summer hideout hidden for some years now already. This place for me is THE definition of all the above mentioned. The place for me to relax and escape or simply just to avoid the people that still owe me money. (Word to Riri)
Lola’s concept is a cool and unique one. Not only is Lola an espresso bar but a bycicle store and bycicle repairshop as well. No you are not on drugs, you read that sentence right.
Food/Menu: From the greatest coffee to the most awesome cakes.
Prices: Do-able. Not too expensive. For €2.50 you can start of with a great Thee or Coffee.
Recommendation: Try the Date’s Cake( Dadeltaart) with coconut. This thing has kept me coming back for years.
Pièce de résistance: Lola’s awesome coffee.
Vibe: Pretty amazing and probably the best part.
The vibe is awesome as you can see. Whether you just kind of want to mellow out and do some work, or recover from a night of bad choices. In the summer it is even more amazing when the doors to the garden open and you can sit outside.
Personell: The staff is some of the friendliest you will encounter.
Bikes: If you’re very much into bike’s and/or racing, talk to the staff for a tour of the place. Everything around the store is showcased. From the awesome showmodels, the literature book floor above the repairshop, and more. They also have their own online shop. Their Lola philosophy is one of the most interesting yet. Check out the tours they organize, workshops, and Kampala Racing philantrophy. It’s too much to put on here. Ask Ask Ask!
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
Why not 5? There is not Wi-Fi. “No Wi-Fi??” (Insert fainting people and crashing planes.)
This is probably for a reason. However it would be even more amazing if there was Wi-Fi.
